A Staff Trip to Manchester Beer and Cider Festival

A few weeks ago we arranged a staff night out to the Manchester Beer and Cider festival at
the Velopark. It was a great chance for us all to experience new breweries, relax after the
busy Christmas period, and make notes about beers that we found particularly exceptional.

This week we are taking a delivery from Hawkshead Brewery, based in Cumbria. They won

beer of the festival with their 5.0% ABV 'Cumbrian 5 Hop', which happened to be Ed's favourite

Coming on cask from Hawkshead Brewery later this week at The Treace Tap we have:

  • Windermere Pale (3.5%)

  • Cumbrian 5 Hop - 5.0%

'Golden Ale, highly hopped (a blend of five hops) with an aroma of tropical fruit. Full fruit flavour
with a long dry finish. Made, as is their way, with a blend of traditional and modern hops. The
signature aroma hops are Citra and Amarillo'.

  • Bitter (3.7%)

  • Red - 4.2%
'A Red Ale. Bitter-sweet. First comes the sweetness of the dark crystal malt, which gives it the red
colour, and then the long dry finish. A beer for those who like their ale to have some colour and
    taste of malt'.

Other notable beers that were on offer which our staff enjoyed included: Alechemy 'Citra Burst' (5.4%); Mallinsons 'Citra Noir', a black IPA style session ale at 3.8% and the exceptional Marble Earl Grey IPA (6.8%).
